About Jannie Arij

Intro

Personal History

Jannie Arij, daughter of Amanda and Keith Arij, was born in South Kennethbury. Spending her childhood in South Kennethbury, Arij acquired a natural affinity in painting her surroundings. After graduating high school in South Kennethbury, Arij left for Brittanyhaven where she began to paint a wider variety of subjects and experiment with new mediums. During this endeavour, Arij discovered surrealism which interested them greatly. Ultimately, Arij enrolled in Rwanda University, West Tonya campus in order to study surrealism more rigorously, where she have contributed both to the development and research of surrealism. Thier most famous work, Gonzales-Dixon Estate, kickstarted her current career.

Today

Jannie currently lives in West Lisaport and works at Rwanda University, West Tonya campus as a postgraduate at the College of Fine Arts.

On Surrealism

Surrealism began by native artists of Paris in 1902, who sought new methods and techniques to represent the interaction between the ancient history of France and emerging artistic movements during the full bloom of 1924. Owing to its roots, surrealism is distinguished by its thoughts on the unconscious mind and other aspects of reality. Arij has conducted a variety of research and creative efforts in surrealism; please see her list of notable works.

Educational History

Jannie Arij graduated from Rwanda University, West Tonya campus, where she conducted both her undergraduate and graduate studies in fine arts. Arij completed her thesis on surrealism.

Artists' Guild on Surrealism

During her graduate years, Jannie Arij founded the Artists' Guild on Surrealism. The guild is dedicated towards the preservation and continuous advancement of surrealism and adjacent genres. The guild convenes annually at Rwanda University, West Tonya campus for surrealism artists to present her works and discuss novel developments related to surrealism. The exhibition and conference is open to the public and welcomes anyone who would like to participate. Additionally, the guild hosts a summer program at Rwanda University, West Tonya campus for young artists interested in surrealism.
